Hi everyone, I'm back with some exciting news - Roadtrippers now lets you measure how far you want to drive from any stop on your trip to help you plan where to take a break, grab a meal, or stop for the night!
This feature is now available on our desktop site, and you can learn how to use it here: https://support.roadtrippers.com/hc/en-us/articles/34399213711124
Try it out and let us know what you think! 🚗 You can reach our team at support@roadtrippers.com with questions or suggestions. We'll keep this feature request open until it's added to our mobile apps.

It's good that you seem to be sorta listening but this is not what I had in mind at all.
I needed a feature where you click on a waypoint and then a measurement is shown from that waypoint to the cursor. You move the cursor and the measurement is updated. The implementation you have chosen is very limited (one distance AND on route) and much harder to use.

Steph Z This is exactly what I wanted, only better! Fantastic job. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have only tested it, but I think it is going to make RoadTrippers invaluable all who wander.

Steph Z Thats great. Can one more thing be changed. Using Autopilot under the, "what kind of activities do you want to do" the option to not recommend anything would stream line things greatly. Some trips I just want to get to my destination without site seeing but my trip is always loaded with things to see and do forcing me to delete a lot of stuff. The, where do you want to eat or where do you want to stay, have the option to use "No recommendation." It would be nice if the activities page had that same option.

Search by miles to drive on route

Need to be able to search for places to stop based upon miles. I plan my trips for 250-300 miles per day. It is hit and miss when searching along the route - I have to add a possible destination to see how many miles to drive each day.

I would like for the waypoints to have different colored markers I.e hotel red, sight or attraction yellow etc

Good news, how long to add to the manual program?

Thanks for the update Steph. I’ll take a look at the AutoPilot feature but would really like to see it in the manual route planning functionality.

Interesting use of AI. looks like a good way to discover stuff. Still needs a bit of work - some of the stops reverse travel direction which doesn't make sense.
Still, I would like to set length of stay at each of my waypoints. After doing, you will be able to calc the length of the trip. Applying the AI to this would also be quite helpful.

That’s a good start
I am a member of a large hotel chains rewards club
I want a program that can tell me the qualifying hotels near that hours recommended stop. This would be very helpful

That's absolutely worthless unless you let me add "time at stop." And for manual planning, you could then produce a true detailed itinerary so I would know where I would be when I wanted to overnight, and could use your excellent tools to plan and reserve the evening's lodging. I don't travel the same amount of time each day, it depends on what I'm doing. First and last days are usually long days of driving. Other days we drive only about 100 miles, with two or three major stops at gardens or museums, etc. And lunch.

We’re excited to share some progress on one of our most requested features—setting your desired travel time per day to help break up your trip and find overnight stops.
We’ve added this feature to our Autopilot™ AI trip planning option! Now, Autopilot™ can help you plan by asking how many hours or miles you prefer to drive each day and then recommending where to stop overnight.
We know that many of you are waiting for this feature in the manual trip planner, and we want you to know that we haven’t forgotten. We're still working on bringing this functionality to manual planning as well, and we appreciate your patience.
We’re listening, and we’ll keep you updated as we make more progress!

Steph Z Thanks for the update.
Just last night we were struggling to break up our trip into equal drive days 250-300 miles.
We ended up with a Harvest Host and National Forest campground.
We often use Harvest Hosts for one night stops. I know the logistics to only allow HH members to see the data, but it would be value-add to see “all options”, especially in the more desolate stretches.

absolutely. At a minimum, if I put in 7 days of travel, then let the route reflect approximately equal mileage days. Don't have me driving 500 miles each day and getting to my destination in 4 days.
