Good news, how long to add to the manual program?

Thanks for the update Steph. I’ll take a look at the AutoPilot feature but would really like to see it in the manual route planning functionality.

Interesting use of AI. looks like a good way to discover stuff. Still needs a bit of work - some of the stops reverse travel direction which doesn't make sense.
Still, I would like to set length of stay at each of my waypoints. After doing, you will be able to calc the length of the trip. Applying the AI to this would also be quite helpful.

That’s a good start
I am a member of a large hotel chains rewards club
I want a program that can tell me the qualifying hotels near that hours recommended stop. This would be very helpful

That's absolutely worthless unless you let me add "time at stop." And for manual planning, you could then produce a true detailed itinerary so I would know where I would be when I wanted to overnight, and could use your excellent tools to plan and reserve the evening's lodging. I don't travel the same amount of time each day, it depends on what I'm doing. First and last days are usually long days of driving. Other days we drive only about 100 miles, with two or three major stops at gardens or museums, etc. And lunch.

We’re excited to share some progress on one of our most requested features—setting your desired travel time per day to help break up your trip and find overnight stops.
We’ve added this feature to our Autopilot™ AI trip planning option! Now, Autopilot™ can help you plan by asking how many hours or miles you prefer to drive each day and then recommending where to stop overnight.
We know that many of you are waiting for this feature in the manual trip planner, and we want you to know that we haven’t forgotten. We're still working on bringing this functionality to manual planning as well, and we appreciate your patience.
We’re listening, and we’ll keep you updated as we make more progress!

Steph Z Thanks for the update.
Just last night we were struggling to break up our trip into equal drive days 250-300 miles.
We ended up with a Harvest Host and National Forest campground.
We often use Harvest Hosts for one night stops. I know the logistics to only allow HH members to see the data, but it would be value-add to see “all options”, especially in the more desolate stretches.

absolutely. At a minimum, if I put in 7 days of travel, then let the route reflect approximately equal mileage days. Don't have me driving 500 miles each day and getting to my destination in 4 days.

This comment was first entered in 2021, I see that as of May 2024 apparently this feature still hasn't been added. I just signed up for a trip I start tonight. Late planner I know. I like to live on the edge.
Based on the promoting of this app, I assumed that I would be able to do this. Instead I have to go to google maps scroll around and look for a potential location. Then hop back to Roadtrippers to see how it actually turns out. Based on this first impression, I'm not sure how useful RTs will be. 7 day trial might not be enough to find value in $50+ a year.
Very sad. 😭
