Set desired travel time per day
David Christensen
If this is a must-have feature, note that this capability is already integrated into the AdventureGenie app.
Britt Drake
David Christensen: yes, but the problem with AdventureGenie is that finding points of interest along the way is very clunky. If these 2 apps could be combined, we would have travel perfection. But for now I am sticking with Roadtrippers.

This would be a great and useful tool

I got excited that this had so many upvotes until I saw it had been open almost a year and a half. This would be a huge benefit. If I could even drag my cursor along the route and see drive time to that point would be nice. That way it would be dynamic and not static to the setting.

Agree, one way to do this would be similar to the “distance off route search” just show a colored circle on the map along the route. So if user had a trip starting from L.A. and ending in N.Y., they set the “daily drive time” to 5 hours and the “+/-“ to 1 hr, a red transparent circle would show on the map centered every 5 hours drive time on that route. The circle would encompass a 2 hour area (1hr prior & 1 hour after the 5 hr target).

Here is a detailed example of what I have been creating, that I cannot do from Roadtrippers. Notice the one-line output to Excel, Highlighting of each stop AND a duration (including overnight), showing the day of the week and date of each day of the trip based on a starting point, showing a total miles and driving time summary plus total miles for each day, websites and open/close hours (critical planning info added manually), room for reservations made and confirmation numbers and cost (added manually) for each stop, and calculated speeds for each leg with high speeds flagged. Again, those could be added after the detailed spreadsheet was exported. This combines several requests.

To really make this work, especially for a sightseeing trip, you would need to add a duration to each stop along the way (see that request), including an "overnight" duration once the desired distance/time had been reached. You could then search for your overnight accommodation around that point. You could then produce a detailed itinerary (see that request) and maybe export to Excel (see that request) so detailed reservation information could be added.

It is kind of crazy that this very basic and much asked for feature is not an option. Especially for an app has been around for awhile and one that costs a pretty penny considering.
