An example may help.
I'm planning an RV trip to several National and State parks in Utah.
Ideally, I could list the 3-5 "base camp" destinations and # of nights at each and have autopilot offer a route. 
So visiting Arches NP, Dead Horse Point SP, Canyonlands NP, Goblin Valley SP, and Capitol Reef NP could be routed either east to west or west to east from my home launch point.
